When no other soul is standing
not caring void of love
between the pit of fiery hell
and heaven up above

for those who are not saved by grace
the soul who meets the need
shall pray to God in one’s behalf
for mercy he shall plead
____
to touch the heart of God in prayer
crying upon His name
an intercessor’s prayer in tears
avails much to be gained
____
because the drive to bear the weight
of burdens that are vast
are recognized by wisdom’s gain
a saint will pray and fast
____
until the Lord has brought about
His will or His release
a warrior’s call is in that gap
until there is God’s peace
____
for every soul condemned to die
in hell’s unquenching fire
one needs to stand right in the gap
and pray for God’s desire
____
which is all who will freely come
shall find the God of life
because someone took time to pray
all day and through the night
